Avon Indiana Homes ~ Maintenance Free Communities

There are several choices of communities in Avon which offer this favorable lifestyle.

Paula, Boy, these look really great! What a nice answer for those who do not want the typical condo. These sort of look like the best of both, feels more like a single family home ,yet without the upkeep.

Paula these are such a great alternative to condos for the Avon In home owner. You can still have a home but with less maintenance. They look great!

Hi Paula, great photos!  So is this style of housing considered condos?

Paula, I wish we had something like this in Ann Arbor, I'm all for maintenance free living. Is it one unit per building or 2 ? We call them duplexes if it is two.

Ray:  So good to see you! I'm glad you liked the photos!

Lynda: Exactly! They are becoming quite popular here.

Ashley: They are a great alternative to condos. Exterior maintenance includes painting the outside of the unit.....gotta love that!

Paula--I have the same question as Missy as we don't have the term or style "paired ranch" in our area. Are there two owners for each structure or just one? We would call them twin homes or duplexes here. I like the paired ranch name...And the style is very attractive! Thanks for sharing!
Posted by Teri Eckholm, REALTOR® Anoka&Washington Counties Acreage & Lakeshore Homes (REMAX Specialists) almost 6 years ago
Peggy: They are not really condos, which are legally called "Horizontal Property Regime" here in Indy. They are called "paired-ranch homes".
Posted by Paula Henry, Realtor® | Indianapolis Real Estate | 317-605-4174 (Home to Indy Team @ Sycamore Group Associates) almost 6 years ago

Missy and Teri:  There are two owners per building. We also have duplexes here. Unlike the older duplexes, these are designed so there is less shared walls between the owners. They basically share the kitchen wall.

The "paired-ranch" name is exclusive to these maintenance free communities. They are governed by an HOA which maintains the property and community. Their contracts also stipulate you have to buy as owner-occupied.

Paula, maintenance free sounds like my kind of living!  I am puzzled though, by the picture with the fence across the driveway.  At first I figured it was a gate, but the posts aren't in the right place.  Is it perhaps a model home?
Posted by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate) almost 6 years ago
AH, my favorite type of home, a ranch.  Sounds like this neighborhood would be great for the professional that doesn't want to take a way from their down time to maintenance something or for people who want to keep their freetime for other things.  What's the monthly fee for this community?
Posted by Cynthia Sloop (Community Association Manager) almost 6 years ago
Joanne - This is the newest community and it is a model home. I think I should go get some new pictures :)

Cyndi: Ranch living and maintenace free - can't beat that! These have also been popular for retirees and those who have a second winter home elsewhere.

The fees vary depending on the size of the unit. At Oxford Park, the fees are $133.00 - $201.00 a month. At Persimmon Grove, they are $133.00-$197.00 a month.

Waterford Lakes is $105.00 a month.

Hi, Paula- this lifestyle thing is becoming HUGE everywhere.  Interestingly, in other areas it's difficult to locate a true ranch- I'd think that people would line up for this opportunity.
Posted by Laurie Mindnich almost 6 years ago
Laurie: It is all about the "lifestyle". I would wish people would line up with me:) They are popular and a few of the communitieshave sold out. I think I'll start offering "cash back" or rebates on new builds to attract some of the business. I use to do that in Arizona, but haven't here. Worth considering!

Paula, The fees for living in such communities is so reasonable. sounds like Avon Indiana has some great places for every type of homeowners.

Thesa: I would think so. I have recently seen a couple of other builders who are starting to build these type communities.

Wow, looks awesome Paula!  I wish we had maintenance free homes here, the closest we get are in our over 55 communities.  Avon looks like a very progressive community!

People are so busy these days...MAINTENANCE FREE sounds like a DREAM COME TRUE!!  Too bad the same fees don't cover the inside...   The pictures are very inviting and the relaxed life is the icing on the cake.  Who wouldn't want to live in Avon Indiana with all those options!?!
Posted by Real Estate Specialist | Brandon, FL | Susie Roscoe (Signature Realty Associates) almost 6 years ago
Susie:  Maintenance free is quite the draw! They have some great lake and wooded lots in the areas they are building, which makes it even more inviting.
Posted by Paula Henry, Realtor® | Indianapolis Real Estate | 317-605-4174 (Home to Indy Team @ Sycamore Group Associates) almost 6 years ago
Paula - That is exactly what I will be looking for in my next home.  I am tired of cutting the lawn and all the other maintenance chores.  I am sure these communities will become very popular all over the country.
Posted by Dutchess County homes for sale | Dutchess County Communities ( JFIVE Home Realty LLC |Columbia,Dutchess,Ulster Counties) almost 6 years ago

Paula,

We have a couple of single family home communities here where the lawn and exterior maintenance is covered by the HOA.  They seem to be popular with both retirees and young professionals who don't want to spend the weekends mowing the grass.  It is interesting to see how a similar concept is being done in the Indianapolis area.

Posted by Rita Taylor | Sanford NC Real Estate & Homes for Sale in Sanford North Carolina (None) almost 6 years ago
Rita - Retirees and young professionals are the biggest home buyers here, also. It makes sense!
Posted by Paula Henry, Realtor® | Indianapolis Real Estate | 317-605-4174 (Home to Indy Team @ Sycamore Group Associates) almost 6 years ago
Wow, I didn't know such an option for maintenance free housing existed, in Indiana or anywhere else!  How neat is that?  I would LOVE to live in a place like this; Condos make me YAWN because I hate the way they look.  these are really  nice.  Excellent blog!

Cyndee: I closed this afternoon on a home and the sellers basically traded same square footage and amenities for a no maintenance community. Mr. Seller said he is tired of taking care of the yard.

Many are moving into this lifestyle!
